Reading firefighters responded to the report of a building collapse Tuesday morning around 10am in the 100 block of South 6th Street. Arriving on-scene, firefighters found a portion of a side wall collapsed with debris on the ground. Residents of the building were evacuated with no injuries initially reported. The cause is under investigation.

Jason Nival was convicted by a jury today of 3rd Degree Murder and Conspiracy for the murder of Eric Ferrer in Reading. On January 18, 2023, Nival and his two brothers fired 10 shots into the vehicle the victim was driving. Nival remains in custody pending sentencing on April 2nd. The case was investigated by City of Reading Police Sgt. John McKeever, and tried by ADAs Colin Boyer and Wayne Bridgham. Firefighters responded to the 400 block of Springmont Drive in Spring Township Monday around 11:36 AM for the report of a trash truck into a house. Upon arrival, crews found a trash truck that went off the road, down an embankment, with the front cab into the house. No injuries were initially reported.
