Severe Thunderstorm Warning

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southeastern Berks County and Northwestern Montgomery County in Pennsylvania, effective until 7:30 PM EDT.

At 6:37 PM, a severe thunderstorm was detected near Birdsboro, about 7 miles east of Reading, moving northeast at 25 mph.

Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts and penny-sized hail Source: Radar indicated Impact: Possible damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines

Areas Impacted: Boyertown, Lorane, Birdsboro, Reiffton, Red Hill, Geryville, Amity Gardens, Bally, East Greenville, Green Lane, Pennsburg, St. Lawrence, Gilbertsville, Bechtelsville, Halfway House, and Telford. Drivers on the Northeast Extension should be cautious between mile markers 36 and 39.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect. While a tornado is not immediately likely, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes with little warning. Stay alert and be prepared to seek shelter if necessary.
