FirstEnergy Stadium transitioning to cashless in 2025

March 28, 2025 - 11:32 PM - Berks Weekly

In an effort to increase efficiency for in-stadium purchases and transactions, the Reading Fightin Phils has announced it will be converting FirstEnergy stadium to cashless, beginning with the 2025 season.

Fans may use credit cards, debit cards or Apple Pay for all purchases at concession stands, bars, the team store and various other points of sale at America’s Classic Ballpark this season. If fans only brought cash, and do not have a credit/debit card or electronic form of payment, it is not a problem. Those fans may exchange their cash at the Customer Service Booth in exchange for a R-Phils Gift Card.

If the full value of the gift card is not used while at the game, fans may return to the Customer Service Booth after the game to exchange the remaining balance of the gift card for cash. So, fans won’t have to worry about using the full value of the gift card.

The organization says the transition to cashless at America’s Classic Ballpark will tremendously help improve the fan experience at games. It will help decrease transaction times at points of sale and the lines will flow smoother than ever before. Fans will be able to get their favorite meals, drinks, items from the team store and more and return their seats without missing much of the action.

The organization also says there will be an adjustment made at the four specific day games this season that welcome school kids and camp kids. They will accept cash at all locations within the ballpark at the three school kid day games (5/13, 5/14, 5/27), and at the one camp kid day game (7/22), understanding that at those four specific games, many youngsters attend the game without a parent, and might only be able to bring cash.

The organization says the main goal of implementing the cashless system for all other games was speed of the transaction, so using that same mindset for the four day games that welcome large numbers of children with only cash, accepting cash at those four games will benefit the ease and speed of younger fans for those games.

The Fightin Phils open up the 2025 season on Friday, April 4, against the Portland Sea Dogs at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are available and can be purchased at rphils.com/tickets.
