This fall marked the launch of the Conrad Weiser Theatre Company, a new endeavor dedicated to enriching theatre arts at Conrad Weiser High School. The formation of CWTC coincides with the 65th anniversary of the school’s musicals and aims to provide expanded opportunities for student involvement in the performing arts.

Under the leadership of Director Hope L. O’Pake, the company will offer more than just traditional musical and dramatic productions. Students will have access to master classes, guest speakers, readers’ theatre, workshops, educational trips, cabarets, and concerts. These experiences will connect them with local, regional, and national theatre professionals, providing valuable insights and fostering artistic growth.

“With the launch of the Conrad Weiser Theatre Company, we are opening the doors for students to explore their creativity, build confidence, and connect with our community through the power of performance,” said Dr. Ryan Giffing, Superintendent of the Conrad Weiser Area School District. “This is a wonderful opportunity for our young talent to shine, and we can’t wait to see the incredible stories they will bring to life.”

Principal Robert Galtere echoed the enthusiasm, emphasizing the increased opportunities for student participation. “CWTC will offer our students increased opportunities to engage in all aspects of theatre on an ongoing basis,” he said.

The theatre company’s inaugural season will conclude with a production of Anastasia: The Musical, set to take the stage on April 4 and 5, 2025. The show follows Anya, a young woman on a quest to uncover her true identity, journeying from the grandeur of the Russian Empire to the vibrant lights of 1920s Paris. Featuring music by Stephen Flaherty, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and a book by Terrence McNally, the production promises a sweeping tale of love, destiny, and self-discovery.

Performances are scheduled for Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $10 in advance at cwtheatreco.org or by calling the box office at 610-693-8542, extension 6654.

The Conrad Weiser Theatre Company is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where students can thrive. Its core values of acceptance, diversity, collaboration, and excellence guide its mission to inspire positivity and growth within the Conrad Weiser community and beyond.
