Helping Harvest received a $12,118 donation from Dunkin’ of Greater Philadelphia Thursday as part of the company’s 14th annual “Roast Hunger” program. The funds will support the food bank’s ongoing efforts to combat hunger in the Greater Philadelphia region.

The program ran from Thanksgiving Day through December 15, with Dunkin’ Rewards members contributing by purchasing large hot coffees. For each purchase, Dunkin’s Philadelphia-area franchisees donated $1 to the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation. The funds were distributed to regional food banks, including Helping Harvest, Philabundance, Food Bank of Delaware, Food Bank of South Jersey, Second Harvest Food Bank of Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pennsylvania, and Community FoodBank of New Jersey.

In addition to the financial donation, local Dunkin’ franchisees and team members volunteered on-site at Helping Harvest, assisting in packing food boxes. Dunkin’ also treated the staff and volunteers to coffee and donuts throughout the afternoon.

This year’s “Roast Hunger” program raised over $300,000, adding to the more than $3 million collected since the initiative began in 2011. All funds raised through the program remained local, supporting communities in need.
