Building a Better Boyertown has announced that it has received a generous $30,000 grant from the Boyertown Area Charitable Program of the Berks County Community Foundation. The funding will support the redesign of the Community Walkway in downtown Boyertown.
The Community Walkway serves as a vital pedestrian corridor, connecting the Town Center Parking Lot to E. Philadelphia Avenue within Boyertown’s downtown district. The redesign aims to improve safety, functionality, and visual appeal. Enhancements will include upgraded surfaces, improved lighting, and new landscaping elements to create a welcoming and enjoyable space for the community.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support from the Berks County Community Foundation,” said Ellen Martignetti, Main Street Manager of Building a Better Boyertown. “This grant allows us to take an important step toward improving the physical appearance of our downtown which is part of Building a Better Boyertown’s mission. Having an attractive downtown contributes to increased foot traffic which will help our local economy thrive.”
Building a Better Boyertown, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization and sustainability of the downtown area, has been instrumental in preserving and enhancing the borough’s unique character. Through various community-driven projects, BaBB continues to foster economic growth and cultural vibrancy in Boyertown.
The walkway design is currently being developed by Derck & Edson, LLC, Barry Isett & Associates, Inc. in partnership with the Borough of Boyertown and BaBB’s Design Committee. Community members and stakeholders will have the opportunity to provide input during the design process to ensure the project reflects the town’s needs and vision (public meeting to be announced).
