After 26 years of dedicated service to the Reading School District, Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Murray has announced her decision to step down at the conclusion of the 2024-2025 school year.
Dr. Murray, who joined the district in 1999, has been a pivotal figure in shaping the educational landscape of Reading School District. Throughout her tenure, she has spearheaded numerous initiatives aimed at improving student outcomes, enhancing facilities, and fostering community engagement. Under her leadership, the district has seen significant advancements in academic programs, technology integration, and student support services.
One of Dr. Murray’s notable achievements includes the creation of the RSD Early College Academy, which provides students the opportunity to earn college credits while still attending high school. Additionally, she established the RSD Early Career Academy, designed to equip students with work-ready skills through specialized training and industry partnerships.
Dr. Murray also played a crucial role in launching the READ Alliance Tutoring Program, a targeted literacy initiative aimed at enhancing elementary literacy skills while employing Reading High School students as tutors. Her commitment to building and strengthening partnerships with local organizations, higher education institutions, and policymakers has contributed significantly to the district’s growth and success.
Reflecting on her tenure, Dr. Murray stated, “It has been an absolute honor to serve the students, educators, and families of Reading School District for more than two decades. I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together, and I have the utmost confidence in the district’s continued success.”
