The City of Reading is now accepting applications for the Spring 2025 cohort of the Reading Conservation Corps (RCC). Formerly known as the Reading Climate Corps program, RCC continues its mission to steward the city’s natural and built environment in partnership with the Reading Public Works Department and Berks Nature.
Managed by the Student Conservation Association (SCA) and supported by Connections Work, the RCC engages members in hands-on conservation projects such as invasive plant removal, tree planting, community garden maintenance, trail upkeep, and litter abatement. Participants also receive professional development opportunities to prepare them for future careers in environmental stewardship.
These are full-time, seasonal, paid positions, and participants are eligible for an AmeriCorps Education Award. Applications for the Spring 2025 cohort are due by February 28, 2024, with the program beginning on March 31, 2025.
The RCC is funded by the City of Reading and several federal agencies. As the program continues to grow, additional funding is welcomed. Those interested in supporting RCC’s mission can contact Joanna Lemmon, SCA, at jlemmon@thesca.org or readingconservationcorps@thesca.org
