The Reading Public Library is bringing back its annual Great Decisions discussion group series in 2025, providing a forum for in-depth conversations on some of the most pressing global issues facing the United States.
The series will run from February 25 through April 22 at the library’s Southeast Branch, located at 1426 Perkiomen Avenue. Discussions will take place in person from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. each session. Participants will explore topics such as American foreign policy, U.S.-China relations, the future of NATO, and the role of artificial intelligence in national security.
Other subjects include international cooperation on climate change, shifting U.S. leadership in the global economy, and India’s position between China, the West, and the Global South. The final session, After Gaza: American Policy in the Middle East, will conclude with a luncheon.
Each discussion will be guided by a briefing book, a video presentation, and a facilitator to encourage informed debate and deeper understanding of these complex global issues. The registration fee is $35 per person and includes the briefing book, which contains expert analyses on all eight topics. A shared registration option is also available for two participants at a cost of $40, which includes one briefing book.
Community members interested in participating can register online at ReadingPublicLibrary.org/great-decisions/ or by calling 610-478-8977.
