Humane Pennsylvania hosts fee-waived adoptions for Change a Pet’s Life Day

Humane Pennsylvania is celebrating National Change A Pet’s Life Day with a three-day, fee-waived adoption event, generously sponsored by Silverbox Creative Studio. Change A Pet’s Life Day, which falls on January 24th, was created to encourage people to adopt pets from shelters and raise awareness about animals in need. From Friday, January 24th to Sunday, January 26th, dogs, cats, and critters at the Berks and Lancaster County shelter campuses will be free to safe, loving homes.

“Adoption fees can often be a hurdle for potential pet parents, and by sponsoring them, we hope to remove that barrier and give these animals the second chance they deserve. Pets have an incredible way of bringing joy, love, and connection into our lives, and celebrating Change a Pet’s Life Day is the perfect opportunity to highlight how impactful adoption can be—for both the animals and the families who welcome them home. We’re honored to support Humane Pennsylvania in their lifesaving work and to help inspire others to open their hearts and homes to a shelter pet,” said Susan Sidoriak of Silverbox Creative Studio.

Silverbox Creative Studio generously sponsored Humane Pennsylvania’s Change a Pet’s Life Day adoption event in 2024 and 29 animals found their “furever” homes.

Adopters wishing to provide a forever home for shelter animals are encouraged to visit the shelter campuses or HumanePA.org. All potential adopters are required to go through Humane Pennsylvania’s diligent adoption screening process (approval is not guaranteed). Some restrictions may apply. Pets under 6 months of age are not included in this promotion.

Adoptions include: Humane Pennsylvania’s 30-day Adoption Health Supplement. Spaying or neutering (prior to adoption). Vaccinations (including current rabies vaccination) and de-worming medication. Flea treatment. Microchipping and chip registration. Free 1 lb. bag of Science Diet pet food.

Macho (238501): Hey there! I’m Macho. I am a 2-year-old, neutered male, Husky! I was brought into the shelter because my last family was moving. They stated I have some typical husky quirks and have been with multiple families trying to find the perfect fit. Due to this, I am required to go home with a husky savvy family who knows what they’re getting into with me. I have lived with cats, dogs, and kids and did great with everyone! Have you owned huskies or other northern breeds in the past? Then ask to meet me today at the Freedom Center in Reading!

Mittens (238506): Hi there! I’m Mittens. I am a 2-year-old, neutered male, domestic shorthair. I was brought in as a stray so not a whole lot is known about me. My finders stated I was always trying to come inside and preferred to be inside to outside. We do not know how I am with dogs, but I got along well with the other outside cats. Do I sound like a good fit for your home? Then come and meet me today at the Freedom Center in Reading!

Phoebe (238568): Hi there! I’m Phoebe. I am a 4-month-old, female, rabbit I was brought in as part of unexpected litter along with my sister Veronica, my two brothers, and my dad. You can see my brothers and dad at the Lancaster Adoption Center for Cats and Critters. We are very sweet and social bunnies but we are ready to find our home. We would do great in any home who and time and space to properly care for us. Do I sounds like a good fit for your family? Come by the Freedom Center in Reading today!
