Berks Encore unveils refreshed branding to highlight Meals on Wheels Berks County

As Berks Encore celebrates its 60th Anniversary in 2025, the organization is unveiling a refreshed identity that underscores its steadfast commitment to senior care and nutrition. A key element of this rebranding includes the addition of a new logo featuring Meals on Wheels Berks County, a program that has been central to Berks Encore’s mission for decades.

“This change allows us to shine a light on one of our most vital programs,” said LuAnn Oatman, President/CEO of Berks Encore and Chairman of the Board for Meals on Wheels America. “Meals on Wheels is more than meal delivery—it’s a lifeline for seniors, providing connection, compassion, and support to help them maintain their independence. Including it in our branding reflects the program’s critical role in the lives of so many older adults in Berks County.”

The decision to incorporate Meals on Wheels Berks County into the organization’s branding highlights the growing importance of this nationally recognized program in addressing the challenges of an aging population. Currently, one in four Americans is over the age of 60, with 12,000 more reaching this milestone every day. As the senior population grows and their needs evolve, programs like Meals on Wheels are essential in ensuring older adults can age with dignity and independence.

While Meals on Wheels receives partial funding through the Older Americans Act, these resources cover less than 50% of the program’s costs. By spotlighting Meals on Wheels in its branding, Berks Encore aims to elevate awareness of the program’s national significance and inspire greater community support to fill funding gaps. This move positions the organization to better meet the demands of a rapidly growing senior population and ensure that no senior in Berks County is left behind.

This branding update honors the legacy of Meals on Wheels while looking to the future, reflecting Berks Encore’s commitment to expanding access and services for seniors for generations to come. “Our mission to enhance the lives of Berks County seniors and promote independence remains at the heart of everything we do,” Oatman added.

In addition to the Meals on Wheels program, Berks Encore will continue to offer a wide range of programs and services, including social activities at its six senior centers, education, fitness programs, and community support initiatives like PA Medi.
