City announces holiday closures and service schedule changes

The City of Reading has announced several important updates regarding City Hall closures, waste collection, and street sweeping schedules for the upcoming holiday season. These adjustments are designed to accommodate the Christmas and New Year’s holidays while ensuring residents are informed and prepared.

City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, in observance of Christmas Eve, and Wednesday, December 25, 2024, for Christmas Day. Normal operations will resume on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at 8:00 AM. Similarly, City Hall will be closed on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, for New Year’s Day, with regular business hours resuming on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 8:00 AM.

Changes to the waste collection schedule will also occur during these holiday weeks. There will be no trash or recycling collection on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, or Wednesday, January 1, 2025. All collections will be delayed by one day for the remainder of each holiday week, meaning Friday routes will be completed on Saturday.

Additionally, street sweeping services will be suspended on Tuesday, December 24, 2024; Wednesday, December 25, 2024; and Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
