A dazzling holiday tradition continues in Sinking Spring, where Ronald and Kerin DeCarlo, along with Tim Gaston, have once again illuminated their property with more than 30,000 Christmas lights. Now in its 39th year, the “Lights on Elwyn” display has become a beloved community event, drawing visitors while supporting a worthy cause—the Animal Rescue League (ARL) of Berks County.
The spectacular display, located at 216 Elwyn Avenue, opened to the public on November 30 and will remain lit every evening from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM (weather permitting) until December 29. The DeCarlo family has expanded the display this year, adding more lights, new attractions, and a larger-than-life, hand-built sleigh for photo opportunities.
“The display is even bigger and better this year with more lights, new displays, and different things to see,” said Ronald DeCarlo. “We encourage everyone to park, walk around the property, and explore ‘Candy Cane Lane’ for even more festive fun.”
While the event is free to attend, visitors are encouraged to bring pet food, supplies, or cash donations to support the ARL. A complete wishlist of the shelter’s most-needed items can be found on their website at berksarl.org/wishlist.
Adding to the excitement, representatives from the ARL will be present on December 21 to share information about their work, showcase adoptable animals, and answer questions about the shelter.

This heartwarming tradition not only lights up the holiday season but also shines a spotlight on the needs of animals in the community, bringing together festive cheer and the spirit of giving.
