Reading Hospital’s Maternity Unit and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) marked Taylor Swift’s birthday on Friday, December 13, with a heartfelt gesture that delighted new families. Team members distributed friendship bracelets to celebrate both the pop superstar’s birthday and the arrival of newborns, symbolizing joy and connection during these special milestones. This is the second year the hospital has organized this unique celebration.

Dr. Ashley Brandt, Chief of the Division of Obstetrics at Reading Hospital, emphasized the significance of the occasion. “Celebrating with a family as they enter their ‘newborn era’ is an honor for our team. We have a lot of Swifties on our team who made this happen, and I appreciate their hard work,” she said.

The bracelets, inspired by the friendship tokens exchanged by fans during Taylor Swift’s recent Eras Tour, were offered to families as keepsakes to mark the beginning of their own exciting new chapter.

Heather Enright, MSN, RNC-MNN, ICCE, and perinatal safety nurse, shared her enthusiasm for the initiative. “We know ‘all too well’ how exciting it is to welcome a new member to the family. It’s the start of something wonderful, and we want to recognize it in a fun way,” she said, nodding to Swift’s lyrics.

Dr. Charles F. Barbera, President and CEO of Reading Hospital, added, “We are excited to welcome the next generation of Swifties to the Reading Hospital family. It’s a privilege to be a part of their story, and we look forward to helping keep them healthy and happy for many years to come.”

The bracelets were provided to families as keepsakes, though not intended for the newborns to wear.
