Kathryn Lehman, Berks County Assistant District Attorney, has formally announced her candidacy for Common Pleas Judge in the 2025 election.
“As a lifelong resident of Berks County, I am passionate about serving our community. Having served Berks County as both an Assistant District Attorney and a defense attorney, I am uniquely qualified, experienced and embody the qualities needed to be a fair and impartial Judge. As Supervisor of the Drug Task Force in the Berks County District Attorney’s Office, I have and will continue to successfully prosecute the most serious cases, including homicides, sexual abuse of children, violent drug dealers, and corrupt organizations. As a Judge, I will be able to use my extensive courtroom experience to ensure that residents of Berks County are served with justice.” Lehman said.
Lehman is a graduate of Shippensburg University, and later went on to earn a master’s degree in social work from Boston College. While working full-time as a multi-systemic therapist with delinquent youth, she pursued and completed her law degree at Widener University in Harrisburg.
Previously, Lehman began her legal career in the Berks County Public Defender’s Office before moving to her current position. Lehman’s unique qualifications for the position have earned her endorsements from John T. Adams, Berks County District Attorney, and Eric J. Weaknecht, former Berks County Sheriff and Pennsylvania Elect State Representative.
“Kathryn is not only dedicated and hardworking, but also has extensive jury-trial experience making her uniquely qualified to serve as Common Pleas Judge,” said Adams. “Her commitment to upholding the law while understanding the needs of our community will ensure that everyone receives a fair hearing in court.”
Most notably, Lehman led the prosecution in Berks County’s largest fentanyl bust in September 2024. If elected, Lehman would replace Judge Jeffery K. Sprecher, who retired.
Lehman resides in Ontelaunee Township with her husband Guy and retired Sheriff K9 Max and Sasha. In addition to her legal career, she is the President of the Berks County Field Hockey Officials Association and remains an active official. She is also an instructor at the Reading Police Academy and an active member of the Ontelaunee Grange.
