Gavin Milligan, a lifelong resident of Maidencreek Township and an active community leader, has announced his candidacy for township supervisor in the 2025 election. Milligan aims to fill the seat currently held by David Franke, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, who has decided not to seek reelection.
Milligan, known for his involvement in local government and volunteerism, has served as a planning commissioner and a volunteer firefighter with the Blandon Fire Company. These roles, he says, have shaped his vision for the township’s future as it navigates growth while maintaining its rural character.
“As a planning commissioner and firefighter, I’ve seen our township grow while preserving its charm,” Milligan said. “Maidencreek is home to over 10,000 residents, yet we still enjoy vast farmland, parks, and wildlife. Growth along the Route 222 corridor is inescapable, and we must manage it carefully to protect what makes our community special. We have an opportunity to build for the future while preserving our land and our community’s character for generations to come.”
At 33 years old, Milligan represents a younger generation of leadership in Maidencreek Township. He plans to focus on four main areas during his campaign: public safety, responsible growth, fiscal management, and transparent governance. His platform includes bolstering emergency services, creating ordinances that align development with the community’s vision, implementing long-term financial strategies to minimize tax burdens, and increasing communication with residents.
Milligan has emphasized his dedication to balancing growth and preservation, particularly along the Route 222 corridor, a major area of development for the township. He also aims to improve local infrastructure without overburdening taxpayers.
In addition to his roles within Maidencreek, Milligan is involved with several boards and nonprofits across Berks County. He serves as Board President of the Berks Career & Technology Center’s Education Foundation and works with organizations such as Safe Berks, Olivet Boys & Girls Club, and the Reading Regional Airport Authority.
Milligan’s campaign reflects a commitment to grassroots engagement, with an emphasis on including residents in decision-making processes. “Transparent governance” is a cornerstone of his campaign, with Milligan advocating for open communication between the township’s leadership and its citizens.
