Sights Unseen - Opening Reception

940 Centre Ave Reading

From Friday, January 24 2025 at 11:00 PM until Saturday, January 25 2025 at 01:00 AM

Join the Berks History Center and the Vision Resource Center of Berks County on Friday, January 24th, from 5PM to 7PM for a public opening reception of the BHC’s newest exhibition, “Sights Unseen.”

In early 2024, the Vision Resource Center of Berks County received a fascinating inquiry from a gentleman who undertook a noteworthy project in the mid-1970s. W. Marc Bernsau collaborated with four blind residents of Berks County on a photography venture. He accompanied each individual as they navigated the city of Reading, camera in hand, capturing images inspired by what they could hear and smell. This exhibit features those photographs, and the remarkable individuals behind the camera lens, as Mr. Bernsau intended them to be seen.

Join us for an inspiring evening that promises to open your eyes to new perspectives and deepen your appreciation for our community's diverse talents. As you explore the exhibit, you'll have the opportunity to engage with thought-provoking photography that challenges conventional perceptions and celebrates the unique experiences of those who view the world differently.

Access to the opening reception is provided through donations, which will include light refreshments and the chance to explore the Berks History Center museum. The funds collected will support the initiatives of both the Berks History Center and the Vision Resource Center of Berks County.

Off-street parking is available in the BHC's parking lot, located at 160 Spring Street, Reading, PA 19601.
