Schuylkill Valley High School lockdown lifted after student found with BB gun

Schuylkill Valley High School was placed on lockdown Monday morning around 10:40 AM following a report of a student with a weapon on campus. According to an email sent to parents by school officials, law enforcement quickly responded, locating the student, who was found to be in possession of a BB gun. The student was taken into custody, and no injuries were reported.

School officials assured that all students and staff are safe. Authorities and the school district are continuing to investigate the incident.

Update: According to Northern Berks Regional Police Department, officers were alerted via 911 by Schulkill Valley High School personnel that a male student was in possession of a handgun inside the school. School personnel had been alerted by a student.

Schuylkill Valley High School began their lock-down procedure as officers from various police departments swarmed the area. Police made a coordinated entry into the High School, and very quickly located the 16-year-old male and took him into custody. A Glock replica BB gun was found in the student's waistband.
