Muhlenberg Twp: Boil Water Advisory

Alert issued: Tuesday, December 17 2024 - 05:09 PM

A water main break has occurred in the Muhlenberg Township Authority water supply. This break affects people of 3700, 3800 blocks of Oak Street, 1700 block of Frush Valley, and Sefranka Road.

What should you do? DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. If you experience any of these symptoms and they persist, contact your doctor. People with severely compromised immune systems, infants, and some elderly may be at increased risk. These people should seek advice about drinking water from their healthcare providers.

For more information, please contact: Muhlenberg Township Authority 2840 Kutztown Road Reading, PA 19605 610-929-4709. General guidelines on ways to lessen the risk of infection by microbes are available from the EPA Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-(800)-426-4791.
